Mildred Beard was a longtime member of Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Club, having joined in 1994, and spent a lifetime serving her community. As a public relationship manager with The Merchant and Farmers Bank for nearly 40 years and an 85-year member of the First United Methodist Church, she gave countless hours working with the public and striving to make a positive impact in the community. Her continuous support of Weatherford College was recognized by being awarded the college’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2008.
The Mildred Beard Citizenship Award is given to a club member whose continued contributions positively impact our community. The award was first presented at the 2019 awards ceremony during the Ladies’ Tea.
Marjorie Roach was one of the charter members of the Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Club, having moved to Weatherford, Texas from California. Truly, she was one of the Club’s first “newcomers.” Marjorie loved the Club. She enjoyed others in work and fun.
In the Spring of 2003, she was presented the first Marjorie Roach Award. This award honored her service, inspiration, and dedication to PCWNC.
