Parker County Women’s and Newcomers’ Club, in Weatherford, Texas (about 25 miles west of Fort Worth), was founded by Patsy Palmer in 1975 for the purpose of meeting the needs of Weatherford newcomers. Membership was later expanded to include all women of Parker County. Our 50th Anniversary of founding is in 2025.

The group exists to promote social and service contacts. Regular meetings are held monthly and consist of a business meeting and program. A luncheon follows. PCWNC's main service focus is a Weatherford College scholarship program which was started in 1998. Each semester our Scholarship Committee selects one or more non-traditional female students attending Weatherford College to award full or partial scholarships. These young women have come to a college education other than straight from high school. Without these scholarships many of these women would not be able to complete their studies at the college. We hold several fundraisers during the year for our scholarship fund. Since 2000, our club has given more than $115,000 to Weatherford College to support scholarships.

A major highlight of PCWNC is the Celebration of Women Week celebrated with several activities. We save the best for last with a Women’s Tea which honors our club members and recognizes our Outstanding Club Woman, Marjorie Roach Award recipient, and Mildred Beard Award recipient. Women who have been honored are listed on our website.

Club members may choose to participate in a range of special interest activities, including card and board games of all types, Bible study, Book club, exploring the area, and breakfast and lunch outings.
